Autosparge, beer gun, last straw, or wait until I can afford a mill? Important fact, I can get my grains, hops and yeast all for $35 usually but because it's local they don't always have the different stuff like midnight wheat on hand.

I bet you'd get more use out of a mill than you would out of those other things.

The mill will let you control another aspect of your brewing, the grain crush. You'll probably get better efficiency, and will have more consistency.

another vote for a mill.. Get a good one and you will be happy. Your efficiency wil consistent which is what you are shooting for.

When I used the LHBS mil I got results from many points low to several points high. Now I hit my numbers almost on the money every time.

A good mill also lets you buy in bulk and you can brew anytime you want if you build up a stock of grains, hops and yeast.

Here is some mill porn for you...hahahahaha

I built the cabinet to fit everything. I used melamine board and iron on edging so it was a pretty simple build. It took me a while to design it but I am super happy with the results. I put a shelf in the cabinet so the bucket that gets the milled grain is only about 1/8" from the top and there is almost zero dust.

Monster Mill 2 pro. Alll American Ale works motor.

I've thought about getting a mill, but for several reasons, it keeps getting passed up. For one, I don't have enough room currently in my brewing area for it to keep the mill, and store extra grain. The biggest reason, though, is because I feel like I get a pretty good deal currently with my LHBS. I pay 38.99 for a "virtual" bag of 50 lbs. I can mix and match basic base malts of Pale, 2-row, Wheat, Vienna, Munich and a couple more. They keep track of how much I've used, and I get to go in and grind my grain when I'm ready to brew. It keeps things pretty simple.

I'd say my next purchase is adding an element to my third kettle, so I can do double batches. That or I'd get a couple of conicals, but I really don't want to spend $600+ for half barrel conicals at the moment.

I bought a mill a while ago and it was one of the better equipment buys. I my efficiency net from about 60-65 to abut 85 and I'm way more consistent with my beers now.
