Going to be in Newport Wed to Sat next week. My daughter is graduating from Navy OCS. Any good taprooms / brewpubs / good beer selection bars I should go to?

Thanks

Dave

I'm guessing you're not staying in downtown Newport which would mean that the Newport Storm Brewery is very close to wherever you're going to be. They make pretty good beer - there's a bar you can belly up to as part of the tour.

Also close by is the Coddington Brewpub. Never actually been there myself but my friends liked it.

We are staying at the Best Western on Admiral Kalbfus Road. Is that close to downtown?

Very close. Essentially if you were to head south you would hit "downtown" Newport (cobblestone roads, super old buildings, loads of restaurants/bars and lots of shopping.) Just north of your position (less than a mile away) on JT Connell Hwy are the places I listed above. Head east on Admiral Kalbfus Rd and you'll hit West Main Rd. Take a right to head into downtown Newport. Take a left to hit up more generic restaurants/big box stores (Chilis, Ruby Tuesdays, fast food.)

The Coddington Brewpub has been mentioned, beer is so, so, the fried calamari is excellent. A couple of places in town where you can get a good beer and a decent meal are Yesterday's and Pour Judgement.
