Brewed first 3 batches, ready to try a complex recipe from beer recipe book. A Christmas beer, 11% ABV, says to condition 6-8 months.

All grain? Will you be keg conditioning or bottle?
Most higher gravity beers will improve with aging, the hard part for a beginner is to keep your mitts off it long enough! Keg conditioning is nice because you can take small tasting samples every couple weeks instead of cracking open an entire bottle every time your curiosity gets you at a weak point.
