I just got the ingredients for my passion fruit ale and I noticed that I have received unmilled flaked oats and wheat. I'm wondering if I need to crush those grains or if its ok to throw them in during the steeping process the way they are?

As far as i know you don't mill any of the flaked grains (barely, corn, oats, rye, etc). Also any Adam Carolla listeners will cringe at the idea of pasionfruit beer. Pasionfruit has been added ad nauseum to everything from tea to soap.
Mostly just joking though, should be a good summer beer.

I crushed up some flaked oats once.... cloudiest beer I've ever brewed :D

I got a lecture from my LBHS when I ran some flaked wheat through their crusher, so not only is it not needed but apparently it's not that great for the mill. This prompted me to get my own damn mill.

Lol easy enough but I don't have a mill. I would be using a rolling pin with handfuls at a time...

GO NOOB PROCESS!!!
