Hey guys I received a new Danby DBC120BLS beverage cooler and I plan to turn it into a fermentation chamber.

I need some help. I'm pretty handy with carpentry, plumbing and mechanics...but I have zero experience with electricity/electronics and hvac/refrigeration.

Here's the fridge I have:

I intend to use a BrewPi set up as outlined here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/howto-make-brewpi-fermentation-controller-cheap-466106/

My question is, do I need to alter the wiring of the fridge in any way? I've read something about wiring the fridge for "always on", so when the temp control device supplies power to the fridge it's automatically on full power??? Also, the fridge I have has a defrost function, do I need to somehow disable/bypass that function when using with a temp control device?

I have a 4.4 danby fridge that I modified with an stc-1000. Looking at the pictures of your fridge it appears the light/thermostat are basically configured like mine. When you open up the light housing you'll see the light controls and in there should be a thermostat. It'll have 2 wires that go to the compressor and 1 hard silver or white lead running to the chill plate on the back(this is the temperature probe thingy). Tie the 2 wires from the thermostat together and now the fridge will run forever.
