So I use better bottles with a blow off tube for active fermentation so I never really have to worry about a blown top. That was until Saturday night. I had brewed a pale ale with warrior and cascade. I pitched some super strain around 4 pm. I went out and came home around 11:30PM and checked it out. Nothing. I decided it must be trapped gas so I gave it a shake. I've never seen a volcano erupt but I'm pretty sure what happened next was comparable. All of a sudden foam started going through the blow off tube into my jug of sanitized water and a second later the top blew off and foam hit the ceiling! It wasn't that bad of a clean up because the carboy was in a cool brewing cooler at the time. Just thought I'd share.
