Would maple syrup be a good substitute for Belgian candy syrup? I have real maple syrup from vermont. I saved some wlp500 and should use it soon. Thanks ahead of time

Not a direct sub, and especially not for the dark candi syrup.

If you are subbing for the clear or amber, it would be a different beer, but could be interesting, it would depend on the recipe.

By volume, maple syrup has less sugar than liquid candy sugar (pretty sure, double check).
Once you've stripped all the sugar out you're left with completely UNsweet maple taste, which is... difficult to describe as pleasant. Might fit in with a sweeter beer to mask it's harshness.

No. In my opinion it is a different animal. Make some inverted sugar, it is not too hard. Just google "inverted sugar recipe".
