Hi.

I use a 15 Lb C02 tank to purge my cornies prior to filling. I keep it in a tmp controlled chest freezer where I store my filled cornies befoer I transfer them to my kegerator. I just kegged 10 gallons of witt and I noticed when I hooked up the C02 to purge the cornies I had liquid coming out and some gas. I keep this tank below 40 DG in the keezer . Do I have a regulator problem ? I was thinking I had beer backing up into the C02 tank

Keg filled above the dip tube or posts on keg reversed. When you apply pressure to an empty keg it works like an expansion tank and can push back on the system

can beer actually back up into the C02 tank ? You would think you could put a 1 way check valve in the line that would allow gas into the keg, but nothing back up the line

It can, and you should. If your tank runs empty due to an upstream leak, the cornies can blow water back into your air manifold or the tank itself. This is a very bad thing.

You can get flare adapter check valves that fit corny QDs, as well as ones that fit gas manifolds. You could also put one into the gas line between the keg and your beer to prevent back flow.

Any ideas who carries the check valves ? I have scanned several of the vendors sites on this forum and cant seem to locate any. . a Cornie gas coupler with one built in would be ideal.

Hi toecutter, I don't have any in stock but can order one on my next order, my shop is in la Verne next to the fairplex

I've never seen them all at one place - most of what I've seen from an mfl standpoint is from Midwest brewing, beverage factory, or adventures in home brewing (home brewing.org)

These were from the latter: http://www.homebrewing.org/Gas-Disconnect-Check-Valve-14-FFL-x-14-MFL_p_2156.html

First would fit a cornie keg qd if it was the mfl type (as opposed to the barbed type). I'd imagine the second would fit some regulators or a gas distributer.

thanks. that first one is perfect. will fit right on the back side of my gas line corney fitting, and my gas line nut will tighten up right on it
