Well, the family did Christmas today instead of on actual Christmas day because some family members schedules don't allow it to happen on the actual day and I was given a mandoline. Here is the model I was given http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003L0OP1G/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20. Now I know the reviews on Amazon say it blows, but I would give it 5 stars. I just pulled sliced some random stuff and it's amazing!

I hope you either have some cut resistant gloves or use the safety slider. Those things are great at taking fingertips off.

One of my favorite things to do is slice up squash/zuchini/eggplant into 1/2"x1/4"x2" to saute up as a vegetarian fajita filling.

Another good one is to run a few turnips through and do a glazed tourne (Either cut thick slices and cut the corners to get closer to a real tourne, or just use 1/2"x1/4"x2" slices and don't worry about it. I do something like the recipe below, except I use beer as my liquid.

Yeah, this baby is awesome. We still have some oil in the fryer from thanksgiving, so I'm going to definitely be doing some russet fries and some sweet potato fries. I may also do some fried zucchini while I'm at it.
