You know how much sugar you added. If you measure the gravity at the beginning, then again when you stop, then you should be able to figure out how much sugar was converted to other stuff...

You won't be able to determine alcohol content with a hydrometer, since some bacteria will convert alcohol to vinegar, etc, but you can definitely see that the sugar has dropped.
Yeah I'm not interested in alcohol content. Just sugar. I had checked SG after 4 days and it was unchanged. But clearly.its fermenting as there is a pellicle.
