Hydraulic steel?

That's a fitting for high pressure hydraulic hoses. Don't know what type of steel it is, but it's probably not stainless steel. The word "hydraulic" refers to the use, not the actual type of steel. The threads are British Standard Pipe Parallel.
 
Thanks ChuckO; however I wonder if "hydro" means "water", wouldn't it be stainless?

Most hydraulic tubing/fittings that I come across working on aircraft are titanium, not stainless. Not sure if that helps but...
 
I work in a place that makes and sells hydraulic hoses fitting and all. They Are NOT food grade or food safe!!!! There are other fittings and hoses we sell that are but theses are not

Thanks everyone - chances are it is not food-grade.

I better stick with tried-and-true stainless.
