how many vials of yeast instead of starter

so im finally getting back into brewing after my son was born 18 months ago, and as many of you know, time is a little harder to come by these days, so im looking for a way to still use liquid yeasts, but wanna cut the starter making step, so my question is how man vials or smack packs do i need to replace a starter?

Beersmith has a calculator or use Mrmalty. All depends on the beer you intend to make.

I'm a fan of the Brewer's Friend calculator as it can do stepped starters and is less pessimistic than Mr. Malty. Plug in your particulars and it'll tell you how many packs/vials you need - or how to build a starter to suit...

One. Aerate your wort well so the yeast can propagate. Your lag time will be a little longer.

To more-or-less duplicate the results of a starter, use two vials of yeast.
