Not sure if its the chloramine or chlorine that it removes but how long does the water need to sit before using it. I usually let it sit over night at an average of 18 hours or so. Is this long enough? Cheers!
Chlorine will evaporate out in 24 hours or so.Hm I would have to research I guess but I didn't know campden tablets helped remove neither chlorine nor chloramines. I think those will just evaporate out themselves if you leave it out long enough. Campden is for sulfiting the must isn't it? editing ... ok hm I didn't know about that use, it does say it eliminates chloramine and free chlorine.
One source I saw said it removes the chlorine within minutes, so if that's true it seems like your 18 hours should be plenty of time.
What do you put the water in to store this overnight? An extra sanitized bucket or what?

any old clean pot.
your going to be boiling it and campdem is potassium metabisulfite. Its what we put into musts to kill yeast and other critters. It IS a sanitizer.
Hmm I do about 2 1/2 gallon boils so I would need an extra 3 or so gallons of water outside of whats in the pot. Would a sanitized lowes bucket work?
