Hops are up sooner than expected...

This is the second year I've had hops growing but my first spring. Last year I cut them back, covered them with a mulch of leaves and then put a tarp over the raised bed (mainly to prevent the leaves from blowing away).

Yesterday I noticed one of the bines climbing out from the edge of the tarp. It's grown almost a foot! In my area we can get an overnight frost as late as mid May. Should I uncover them? Is frost a problem? I thought it was...

You can uncover them, hops are very Hardy.
