I am interested in making a mead mixture with the listed title ingredients. Have you tried them before? Would you recommend it? what's the best way to prep? should I mash and boil/simmer pecans and rye? I plan to cook rye and mix with a little 6 row barley to convert starch to sugar. Also what is the best ABV to aim for when making mead? I know for best tasting spirits you want a mash at 6% to 10%, what about mead? I'm guessing 12% to 16%.

Personal preference is 10.5 minimum to avoid the greatest chance of oxidation/infection. 10-14 standard Mead, lower for hydromels and higher for sack meads. Whatever you are looking for really, higher abv needs 6 to 12 months to age and mellow out.

Did you try this? I was just searching for a rye braggot earlier. I love rye whiskey, and thought this would be awesome!
