I started with a recipe, listened to the advise, and ended up with the best extract brew I have yet done. At final gravity measurement I was a little concerned because it had some of the "cat pee" thing goin' on, but after a month in the bottles, it's definitely an apricot/fruity kind of flavor! I appreciate the advice, and would love to share the recipe. Here's what I ended up doing:
9 lb. Northern Brewer Pilsen LME
1 lb. Briess Golden Light DME
1 lb. belgian Caramel Pils (Steeping)
1 oz. Chinook @ 60
1 oz. Cascade @ 10
1 oz. Simcoe @ 5
1 oz Cascade @ 1 minute, just before flame-out
Dry Hop 2 oz. Cascade, 1 oz. Simcoe
I waited until flame-out before adding the final 6 lbs. of LME.
This beer rocks, and I appreciate the advice!
