I plan on making the coil Friday. I have a hand bender and am ready to go.

My primary question: should I go ahead and order stainless steel wire to keep it compressed?

Any advice generally?

Here is the wire, this would the correct kind, right?

My first herms coil was 1/2" copper and it can be bent but is still prone to kinking and pinching. My second coil, ordered precoiled to my specific dimensions from stainlessbrewing.com is also 1/2" but it is very heavy duty stuff. I can't unbend it if I tried. I don't think a hand bender will do what you need of it.

Ha! Just tried. Kink within a foot and a half. Gonna try again tomorrow I guess. Thanks!

I'll be damned. Only 20 more than I paid and bent to spec. F me.

Lol, already ordered and received those. It's 1/2", the rest could be salvaged if I can find a place to roll it for me. Not sure it's worth the cost though.
