I'm going to attempt a recipe for q Lagunitas DoppelSticky clone. The recipe is all grain and I'm not set up to do that just yet. I need to convert to extract for the following:
7.5 lbs rye(flaked)
7.5 lbs American two row
3.5 lbs Munich light

1lb rice hulls
1lb Cara-pils dextrine

Target is 1.071 og

I've looked online and for some reason I can't make heads or tails of it.

Thanks

Unfortunately, even rye extract isn't going to be the same as using flaked rye (which must go in a mash with base grains).

I think it would be impossible to convert that recipe to extract as a result.

Thats what I was afraid of.......Oh well, I guess this one will wait until Im ready for all-grain!

How much grain can you handle?

For instance, I can handle 6 lb. and I cannot work this recipe.
But if you have handle 7.7 lb. and be willing to throw in unwanted C 40L, then it is convertable.
Or if you are willing to do a smaller batch (which would reduce the % of C 40L).

The problem is the Briess Rye Extract is only 20% rye and has 10% 40L.

Briess Rye Extract is:
70% Base Malt
20% Rye Malt
10% Caramel Malt 40L

Briess Munich 8L Extract is:
50% Base Malt
50% Munich Mal
