Brewed a 12 gallon batch of a Hefe on Monday. Had small amount of wort left and some local clover honey lying around so decided to mix up the following.
The grain amounts are an approximation however when I entered them into a online recipe calculator the OG came out to a 0.001 difference. So they must be close.
1 gallon batch
OG 1.090
.25 lb wheat
.20 lbs Pilsen
.10 Munich
Boil this 1.5 gallons of wort separately
.25 oz Tettnang hops added at 60 minutes
Cooled wort to 70 degress
2 lbs Clover honey
Lalvin K1V prepared and pitched
1 Minneola Tangelo
8 raisins
Not sure K1V was the best choice here but it was the only extra yeast I had.
The Tettnang hops gave the sample I tried a wonderful spicy flavor. Based on the final results may have to try a traditional mead with some Tettnang.
