Hey All,

Looking for a good "brew in a bag" receipe for a hefeweizen. 5 gallon batch.

Ideally, something thick, like a chewy texture (thinking weihenstephaner or yazoo hefe style).

You guys got anything good out there?

Here is my favorite:

2.5 lb Pilsner
1.5 lb Munich 8L
5.25 lb Malted Wheat

Mash at 153. Higher if you want a fuller body.

Boil for 90 minutes

0.75 oz Hallertauer @ 60
0.25 oz Hallertauer @ 15

Wyeast 3068 Weihenstephan Weizen, 2 packs or a 1-2L starter.

Ferment @ 62F for 21 days, then bottle or keg. I prefer to bottle most wheat beers personally. If you keg, it will clear to a kristalweizen.

I prefer a soft, balanced water profile.

If you don't have pilsner, you can sub American 2-row of pale malt instead, and it is still great (and cut your boil to 60 minutes)

Recipes don't change for BIAB. You can click recipes at the top and use any of the AG recipes with your system.

As you are doing BIAB, just go all wheat malt.
Sorachi Ace goes very well in a low gravity all wheat. Saying that Citra or Amarillo would also be outstanding.
