Newb question: What is that? A tap handle? It's touching a memory of some valve hardware from another context.

If it touches beverage, I'd be looking for a replacement. Otherwise looks aesthetic.

That is the stem/handle/yolk of an economy chrome plated brass faucet and yes the chrome is coming off. Replace with an Intertap and never look back.

I had to fight pretty hard to get it apart even tho the tap action was working fine.

But yeah, it has run its course, time to replace.

Yep, been there, done that. I got Perlicks and have been real happy with them.
