Yes, guilty! Posting in the beginners forum to help others avoid greif and crappy beer.
First brewed for a few months 35 years ago. Garbage! Tried again 10 years ago-same!
Got back into it end of last year, not bad! Follow on batches, awsum! Got a mill, family fighting for cases and then every batch past 4 months, crap, exact same profile/taste/foam bombs as past years! So, switched to apfelwein.
Abuse part..in trouble shooting my problems, I said, self, maybe this temperature thing during fermentation should be looked at. Made 2 apple batches fermented in a swamp cooler with ice. What a difference! I live in central Florida and don't heat my house in the winter, stays about 60ish.
I been fermenting in about 80-82F past 4 months! Hey those instructions on the little packets are for sissies.
All my past attempts were during the summer!
Thougt I was immune, only making ales or Ca style lagers. WRONG!!
Temperature temperature temperature..

I made horrible beer in the early 90's too and gave up, got back into it about 2 years ago, the beer been flowin like crazy ever since...

My friend and I brewed for a couple years and never made a good beer, and he gave it up. Later on I realized we were fermenting in an apartment without air conditioning all summer long, 80-90 degrees. Oops.
