Nice! I only had to pop off the knob and there it was on the dial face.
I see! You must have the blue 419. The grey 419 install involved splicing into your existing wiring. I agree the plug/play option is good, but still $80. The temperature fluctuation of 5 degrees is concerning, but hasn't caused issue for me.
Sorry, I hate stirring up a ruckus!! My bad guys, let's keep the positive karma a flowin
Tried twice with my holiday and it is setting at 46 right now. The screw is on the bottom under the sticker and I ended up turning mine clockwise. Just need to fine tune now. Guess I will us my aquarium controller on a fermentation chamber. Thanks for the heads up.
Just bought a 5.2 Holiday chest freezer. Should I buy a Ranco or do this little twisting? Id love to save the cash but how much luck are people having by doing this on the Holidays? I dont want to break anything and am a little nervous about adjusting this on a brand new freezer for I would maybe want to use it later for actual freezing purposes (yeah right haha). Sparticus, you said that the screw is under the sticker? I will hold off on the Ranco purchase for now! Talk me into this!
It doesnt put any stress on a brand new compressor/freezer by turning the set screw like that? I guess if anything it would be less stress because it wouldnt have to get as cold as intended maybe?
On my Holiday 5cft, the set screw was not located under my logo sticker or any other sticker for that fact. Does yours original temperature control on the freezer have 3 slots before the 1-7 and after the 0? What may these notches be?
I have a frigidaire ffc07m2aw1 5 ft freezer and plan on trying this tomorrow. What piece do I adjust? The temperature dial area or somewhere else? Hoping to get this ready by the weekend. Have a backup fridge in case i cant get it right and ordered 2 fridge thermometers here wednesday.
I found the coarse adjustment screw for the small kenmoore freezer I just bought from a garage sale but the shelves seem to be part of the cooling system. There are small silver pipes comming in from the back and they form the inside of the three shelves with a wire rack over them. Can I redirect these or get rid of two of them since I wont be needing negative temperatures? Sorry for the doubles of the same pic.
Get the keg in now if you want to be serving tis weekend.SPR-GRN said:I want it sussed by this weekend as I'm kegging two more batches (already have one in a keg sitting at 65 deg in my basement) and I'd like to start serving.

It takes a day or two just to chill a keg IME. If running too cold, simply unplug for a few hours.
Just acquired a new Danby 10.2 chest freezer this past Saturday. When you remove the main compressor cover, you can see a screw on the thermostat. I removed the sticker that I also saw and there was no screw under it, so naturally I figured the visible screw was the coarse screw. After a few hours of testing, I determined it was not the proper screw (still don't know what it does).
So, pulled out the fine adjustment knob panel and checked out the other side of the thermostat - there was a screw there, and I mistakenly turned it counterclockwise first - OOPS! The screw came out of the internal spring assembly inside of the thermostat. That then started about a 2 hour disassembly/assembly process - I don't recommend this!
Disassembly was fairly easy, just pay attention to where everything goes. Putting it all back together is another story - after using two clamps and a pair of pliers in each hand, I was able to compress the diaphragm enough to get everything locked back together and secured, not a fun ordeal.
But, nevertheless, was able to adjust temp up to around 36-38 degrees (in a cup of water), and I can use the fine adjustment to go from there.
Let the keezer build commence!!!!!
EDIT: Forgot to mention: I currently don't have anything in the freezer, and it's 15 cubic feet. Will the low thermal mass pose a problem for zeroing in here? Should I be storing a lot of water/beer inside to help tune this thing in?!
