Brewing up a traditional pale ale (lighter color than SN Pale Ale), and i want it to have very expressive grapefruit aroma/flavor. I'm trying to find hops with the biggest grapefruit notes. Currently, i'm thinking using Cascade, Falconer's Flight, and Simcoe with Chinook as a bittering addition. What hops work best for the desired result?

Inspiration comes from having fresh Sierra Nevada Pale Ale at the brewery in Asheville a few years ago. The bottled stuff we get just doesn't have that same aroma/flavor.

Chinook and Cascade combo will do that, but if you really want a grapefruit bomb, you could steep some grapefruit zest in vodka or Everclear and add it to the primary late in fermentation.

I'm a big fan of Falconers Flight in general but for pure grapefruit I think you'd be better off with one of the components, Chinook is the first one I'd think of, along with a fairly "bright" yeast like a Chico.

I'm also a fan of Ahtanum which is perhaps the most underrated of the C-hops IMO.

Centennial and Cluster should emphasize the major characters that Chinook conveys.
