Getting back into it

Hi All,

Decided to get back into homebrewing after a hiatus of about 5 years. Found someone selling their while kit on FB marketplace for $100, who could say no?

Going through their kit, which appears to have been packed up far a move and never unpacked and most everything is familiar except this little fitting. Thought it was a dip tube at first, but the spring loaded arm opens a valve when it's moved toward the bend. Best guess is some sort of a kettle filler where you can hang it on the side of a pot and the valve will open and then close when you lift it off, anyone know what it really is?

Also, the rest of the kit is basically two 10 gallon pots for a HLT and BK and a 10 gallon cooler MT. No burners but can with a bunch of other goodies like a one keg system ( no CO2 bottle), temp controller, couple fermenters, and all sort of other assorted goodies. #blessed

Looks like one of these. The little arm opens a valve and squirts water into a bottle or what ever. That has hose threads, you will need an adapter to use on a typical sink type faucet.

@kartracer2 is correct. It's to rinse bottles after cleaning and before sanitization. Got one, works great and a time saver for sure.

And yes if you're bottling, that bottle rinser is key to speeding up the process.

Welcome back to the madness. You definitely got a good deal there. You have a couple of great clubs in the greater Chicago area. B.O.S.S. (Brewer's of South Suburbia) and Chicago Beer Society. I'm sure now there are others but I am very familiar with these two as I was a member of both before I moved away in 96.
