What is the difference between flaked rye and crushing malted rye? I had a great Rye IPA kit which used flaked rye, but just saw some malted rye at the local hbs that was on sale. Just wondering if I could use it the same as I did the flaked?

I'm no expert, but I'd assume the difference is similar to that of flaked barley vs. malted barley - one's malted and is more modified, giving you better sugar utilization in your mash. The flaked rye could be more body-affecting.

But this is just a shot in the dark - Anyone else have any ideas?
