Yesterday I brewed what will be a Chocolate Oatmeal Milk Stout. This is my first batch that calls for a secondary fermentation. In the secondary I am to add cacao nibs. Now, there is a process for doing everything with this hobby so I am wondering when and how I add the nibs? Drop them in? Put them in before racking? Help!

Thanks!

Make sure the beer is at FG before racking. Then you can either put them into a sanitized hop sack or just drop them in. Rack on top of them, your choice.

Do I have to anything specifically to the nibs themselves?

Just clarifying I do not have to soak the nibs in anything before racking over the beer. I have conflicting reports!

I don't think so,no. The alcohol in the beer should be enough.

Agreed. Shouldn't have an issue just racking the beer over the nibs. Let the wort do the work...
