Just discovered a new "recipe" --
Cook your favorite grains.
As you are pumping the 212 degree wort into your counterflow, lean over the pump -- you know -- the one you forgot to clamp the outflow hose.
Just as your face is directly over the pump, allow the outflow hose to disconnect.

A beautiful wort fountain and 212 degree syrup stuck to your face.

It friggin hurts.

My dogs appreciated it though -- a gallon and a half of sweet wort all over the patio for them to lick up.

Very innovative thinking... sounds risky. I might just have to do this for my next brew. Keep us posted!

But seriously... I hope your face didn't get burned too bad

Just a small blister next to my eye and a "sunburn" to the left side of my face.
Since I don't like a lot of hops, it was pretty weak. Also, hosed it down as soon as I could. I had read that the hops were bad for them, so I tried to make sure they didn't get too much of it. That, and me screaming like a banshee, the were hiding in their doghouses :)
