I'm just a beginner at homebrewing and have brewed three batches. I didn't put any clarifiers in any of those batches and was wondering how much of an impact they have on taste? I just tasted the first batch (an Irish stout) and found it to be much more bitter than expected. Is this because of "yeast bite"? Thanks for any info you guys can give me. Cheers!

Finings will generally have no impact on taste. If you are asking for diagnosis on what you are describing as an unexpected bitterness, we will need some more details on the recipe, and your fermentation schedule and temps
