Hey Brewers,
I am wantng to brew a recipe I made in extract a few years back but in all grain this time. I found that the conversion is 1lb of grain =.75lb of LME. I am not sure if this is for all grain or pale only or if it includes wheat conversions....My recipe also has wheat extract and I havent done an AG wheat beer yet so my question is, does my math add up? Are there any extra mash steps required for a wheat beer? Any extra adjuncts? Please take a look and let me know what you think.
Extract (mini-mash) Recipe: OG 1.049 FG 1.012; The mini mash I did with this recipe was spot on on these numbers, FYI.
3 lbs Extra Pale
2 lbs wheat
2 1/2 lbs 2-row for steeping
AG Recipe using conversion:
4lbs pale or 2-row malt + another 2 1/2lbs 2 row (steeping grains) making 7.3 lbs total 2 row or pale (5.5/.75=7.33)
2.75 lbs wheat (2/.75=2.66)
Is this a correct formula? Did I miss anything? I know that brewing wheat adds extra steps....what would those be? I have found a lot of info on this process but there seems to be a lot of people giving different conversion numbers So, anyone with the right answer, Hit Me
