I brewed an enormous Barleywine near Halloween last year called a Monster Mash. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f14/its-monster-mash-358653/ This year, I did an English Smash with Maris Otter and Fuggles. Anyways.

I need a name for some kind of Monster in the England area. Like Bigfoot is to the US, I want from England. I did a general google search and was unimpressed. I want to name the beer after this creature and have my lady draw me up a label. Winner gets a bomber of the beer if I use your suggestion. I'll send it to you in time for next Halloween. Prost!

How about the "The Beast of Bodmin"

Not sure anyone really knows what it or whether it exists, i seem to remember they even sent the SAS after it once but never captured. Probably a large puss cat seen a few times by someone coming home from the pub more likely. But Bodmin moor is a freaky sort of place so anything is possible.

Probably Cheesy, but my Cyclones just lost and I'm kind of half in the bag.

A Maris Werewolf in London

The most famous is probably the Loch Ness Monster - last year you could have called it the Loch Ness Monster Mash :)

Seems like everyone found the same wiki page that I did. The ones people have mentioned were the only neat ones that I found too. None of them seem scary enough. We'll see.

Grindylow seems like a cool one too, though not very scary either.

Are you looking specifically for England, or are other areas acceptable? Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia all have some great folklore and some pretty scary monsters.

I was trying to stick to England. Didn't think this would be that hard. I also didn't think that the only ones that I could find would be fairies and scary dogs. Ha. Welp. I did like Gwyllgi. I like the name too. Keep em comin if you dare. I'll let you know what I decide when the time comes. Thanks everyone.

You've probably found the cornish giant Cormoran, or maybe you could do something with the Cerne Abbas thing.. Or you could just call it Margaret Thatcher. ;)

You could make a cool label with an image of the Cerne Abbas giant, certainly scary on a beer label

something tells me you won't though

Here are a handful of idea:

Albion. King of the Giants and the island of "England"'s oldest name.

Cormoran, a Gornish Giant, and lord of St. Michael's Mount, who was later slain by Jack the Giant-killer.

Myrddin. aka, Merlin. It is supposed that the enchanter of legend bore the same name as an earlier figure, possibly a god of the island.

How about an English Sea Pig? (http://www.gutenberg.org/files/42508/42508-h/42508-h.htm#The_Sea-Pig)

I spake before of a Monstrous Fish found on the Shores of England...

Welp. I think I have a winner. After much deliberation, I think I am NOT going with anything super scary since dogs, cats, and pigfish aren't really that scary. The winner of the bottle is AsgardNorth with his suggestion on Myrddin. I loved reading about him and will be doing some more reading tonight. He was the person that Merlin is based on but after a battle, became a madman and fled to the woods to live with the animals. He also had his own Death Prophecy, which came through, which involved him dying by falling, stabbing, and drowning. "This was fulfilled when a gang of jeering shepherds drove him off a cliff, where he was impaled on a stake left by fishermen, and died with his head below water.", Wiki link.

Either way, my lady is an artist and I am going to have her draw a creepy old forest dweller and name it Myrddin's Prophecy.

Hey AsgardNorth, PM me an address and when I get it all ready to go, I'll send you one and maybe some fun local stuff. Let me know if there are any styles you don't like. Congrats.
