Batch Size: 6.00 gal
Mash Size: 8.71 gal
Color: 19.3 SRM
Mash Temp: 152 F
Bitterness: 34.9 IBUs
Boil Time: 60 min
Est OG: 1.048 (11.9° P)
Est FG: 1.011 SG (2.8° P)

10 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
8.00 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (45.0 SRM)
8.00 oz Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM)
4.00 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 77L (77.0 SRM)
4.00 oz Victory Malt (25.0 SRM)
0.75 oz Horizon [10.1%] - Boil 60 min
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [7.0%] - Boil 20 min
2.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.5%] - Boil 0 min
Jamil's recipe which I have made small tweeks to suit my preference. Most notable changes are: the base malt to Crisp Pale Ale malt (which I use for most beers) and the crystal malts to Fawcett's British crystals.
This beer is my most requested brew among friends for it's range of flavors and drinkability. Also, this finished 2nd out of 18 beers in the 2016 Dominion Cup with an average score of 38 (more hops needed was biggest critique).
While this beer is easily found in Brewing Classic Styles, I feel this recipe doesnt get the credit it deserves, so I decided to post it up after brewing again yesterday (I have made this at least 5 times). It really fills a great void in between the more popular brown ale recipes of today: Moose Drool and Janet's Brown. If you are a brown ale fan, this is a must-brew!
