I am looking to make a dimple tool for my stilldragon 2" tri-clover element enclosure. I've read through the soldering stainless sticky and need some advice on the parts I need. I also have some 1 1/2" tri-clover parts ordered that I'll need to make a tool for also.

Would it make a difference if I used galvanized or black pipe to fabricate it? After all, if any metal rubs off, won't I be sanding it clean?

What size hole do I need to punch?
This post mentioned to make the hole closer to 2" than his 1.734" hole. Is there an amount under the final size I should shoot for?

How much bigger should the ID of the backing cylinder be than the OD of the flaring tool?

I know I'll need a #8 Bolt because of the force required but is there anything else I should take note of like angle or length of the flaring die?

It would be nice to put a thread together with pics and parts lists of all the dimple tools made, what worked and what didn't.

I got this 2"-1" butt weld concentric reducer to use as a flairing for both 1.5 and 2" tri-clover fittings:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003RWTYT6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
OD of the 2" should be 2.375", OD of the 1" part should be 1.315"

This 1.5" socket weld coupling for the female part of the 1.5" tri-clover:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003GXF5RG/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
ID of this I'm hoping is over 1.675"

and this 2" coupling for the female part of the 2" tri-clover:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003GSKXY6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20
ID of this should be 2.375 or slightly smaller?

Total cost for 2 dimpling tools is $35 if it works.

Do you see anything wrong with these?

Ok it looks like no one has any input. On pulling a dimple for a 1.5 tri clover.
