Hi there folks,

I have been a long time lurker while I have been learning the basics of brewing a decent beer. So first up, thanks! I have also been taking a keen interest in the kegerator section, and have finally taken the step to build my own over the winter (I live in Wellington, New Zealand).

I basically took a small fridge (120 litres I think), and made a wooden box around it with the strength to hold a concrete slab bench top. It was a bit of a mission, given the slab weighs about 40kg, but seemed to be a good result in the end. The difficult part here was making the mould for the concrete slab, and then grinding it down so I get the smooth finish I am after (I still need to seal it though - next weekends job).

I also copied a few ideas I saw on Pinterest for a cast iron pipe tower - looks pretty cool (well I think so anyway). I spray painted the pipes the gunmetal grey colour - was pretty straightforward to do.

The fridge holds a 19 litre keg, plus a couple of mini-kegs I have. Perfect for what I need it for.

Enjoy the pics, and let me know if you have any questions.

Rick

There are vents in each side of the kegerator, and the back is completely open. Hopefully that generates enough airflow to keep it reasonably cool. Also, the walls of the wooden outer have about an inch and a half clearance from the fridge - again to allow airflow.

Hope that answers your question
