The only competition software that I've used when entering a competition has been the BCOE&M system that was used for AHA. Recently entered a competition that used Reggie Competition Software. Might just be my lack of experience with it, but it seemed poorly thought out, clumbsy and not as intutive as BCOE&M. Seemed like a step backwards to me. Anyone have any insight into this software and why a competition would switch to using it?

Definitely not cost, BCOE&M is free open source software. I know they were still working through some bugs with the 2015 guidelines. Certain categories require you to list special ingredients. Someone hard-coded the categories, so when the category numbers changed with the 2015 guidelines, it caused several categories to auto-purge (read "delete entries") if they were missing the special ingredients. Never heard of Reggie though...maybe it's developed by somebody tied to the comp.

I know the person who developed Reggie. I've used it several times entering competitions last year and after you use it a bit it's a lot easier to use. It might need a few tweaks but I liked it overall.
