I am planning on entering a comp with an English IPA. It will be around 9-10 srm and I plan on dryhopping around a half ounce. In the past, dry hopping has always left a haze to the beer. I really wanted a crystal clear, but it occurs to me I may not get it. So to my question; how is haziness guaged in a competion in the 14A category?

Haziness will go to appearance. Appearance is a total of three possible points, so you may get a 2/3 instead of 3/3 if the beer is hazy. Since a hops haze is acceptable, though, you still might get 3/3. I wouldn't worry about 1 point, in a 50 point competition regardless.

Thanks Yooper. I didn't know appearance was so few points. I will press on and not worry about it.
