Has anyone ever put or thought of putting Chivas Regal soaked oak chips into a big stout? I'm looking at adding 2 oz of oak chips soaked in Chivas Regal to my secondary and age it for 1-2 weeks and sample it along the way to make sure it doesnt get too " oaky ".. But i've never seen anyone use Chivas Regal.. Is it bad to use or????? I brewed a dark stout and will be adding 2-3 table spoons of vanilla in the secondary along with oak/scotch..

Thanks!

Drink the bourbon/whiskey/scotch. If you like the flavor of the liquor it should be fine to soak the oak and place into the beer. I'll soak the oak for 3-4 weeks to really soak them before adding the whiskey and oak. I say go for it. The type of whiskey use it usually the persons favorite or what they had on hand.
