I'm looking for a chest freezer to make into a fermentation chamber. I can't figure out what size to really look for though. I'm thinking at least 9 cu. ft. so I can put two carboys in there at once. But I know you lose so much to the compressor hump.

Has anyone ever tried building a collar (like many have done for a keezer) to give the height needed to put a carboy (6 gal) on top of the hump?

Also, anyone ever try building a small (single carboy size) foam chamber to enable running two temperatures inside the same freezer?

Just some ideas I've been kicking around. Thanks!

An 8 cu ft fridge of rectangular top open design... you should be able to get 2x 5-8gal buckets/carboys/Spiedels side by side or 4 ball lock cornies. I just went through the research and purchase.... but that chart is the tits
