I was brewing a nut brown ale and added some shredded coconut, the smell was intoxicating.
I have not seen many threads about coconut in brewing. Did I make a mistake?

Maui Brewing makes a coconut porter that i hear is fantastic. My only concern would be how the oil in the coconut would affect head retention. Was it dried, toasted, fresh? Did you add it to the mash, boil, or the fermented? Since you already did his would just advise you to take extra care when you rack it to your bottling bucket/ keg.

Added dry shredded coconut with 30 minutes left during the extract boil.
So try to avoid any oils during racking/bottling?
It sure made a great smelling wort, and I'm sure I will get less after bottling, just hoping to get a hint after conditioning.

Ive added coconut after fermentation to a chocolate stout with fantastic results. The head will fade a bit faster, but the flavor is worth it.
