I thought I would upgrade to use an immersion chiller. I needed a bulkhead in the pot. I hired a welder. He charged $60. I thought it high but paid it. He welded the coupler flush on the inside. He also either got slag in the inside threads or cooked them. The plan was to use a stainless pickup tube on the inside.

The bulkhead is 2" from the bottom. I figure I am going to have to buy a plug for the bulkhead.

I probably have at least $200 in this project. Absolutely marvelous.

Find a plumber with the correct tap and get it rethreaded.

What Spartan said. If the threads are no good, a plug won't work. Either borrow or buy a NPT tap.
