I got a few used kegs that need a little refurbishing from a friend. As I was disassembling one I found a big spot of rust in the bottom of the tank. Is there any way to fix it? Or do I just need to scrub it off and will it be okay? Obviously I'm concerned about ruining whatever beer I put into the keg and/or the keg leaking. Thanks.

It looks more like dried soda syrup than rust. BKF and a scotchbrite will clean it up either way

I finally got around to buying some BKF. I soaked and scrubbed it with a scotchbrite pad and it came out like new. Apparently it was just residue that looked just like rust.
