I was hoping to cold crash my brew in my basment but the temp is higher than I was expecting (50ish). I guess its only 35 degrees down there when I have my friends over for a poker game.... The temp in my garage is probably below freezing and don't really want to put it in there for too long because it will likely freeze.

Would it be a bad idea to cycle it between my gargage and basement to try to keep it close to optimal crashing temp or would the likely 20ish degree swing it would take have a negative impact?

Thanks!

I'm not expert, but the issue I see with this is that you will be rousing the sediment each time you move it. In most cases you cold crash to get the sediment to the sediment to fall to the bottom, so moving it would slightly defeat the purpose.
