Airlock Question

I feel like a total newb, but I'm just wondering how much water to put into the airlock (3 piece)? I have it about 1/2 full....just wanted to make sure I wasn't totally screwing it up. Thanks!

Half way sounds about right to me. Too full and it'll drip over the top, no big deal. Just be sure it's full enough to form an effective airlock, you want your lovlies in their own little world.

I fill mine halfway too..but with cheap vodka. If you get suck back, you just boost abv.

All of my airlocks (S-type and 3 piece) have a line marked on the side. I fill water to that line. I only get suck backs when I'm impatient and don't cool my wort enough before stoppering it. I still use purified water, not tap water.
