a few days ago I sent a six-pack to somebody on the east coast via Fedex ground. Supposed to arrive in Delaware on Wednesday

I've shipped beer many times for gifts and competitions etc so I know I have that down

but I'm concerned that likely, the truck holding my beer is driving/parked in the midwest somewhere today/tomorrow. I doubt the trailers are heated. Will my bottles explode in shipment due to freeze/thaw?

 :(

-40F would give you a beer-cicle in a little bit of alcohol and water. The good news is that it would take a while. Water gives off heat as it freezes. Your package is probably pretty good insulation.

I’m guessing it will get a little icy, but not frozen. The water freezes a little at a time and the freezing point keeps going down until there’s nothing left but pure alcohol, freezing point -175F.

Please, let us know.
