Recently I bought a set of brewing gear from a guy and he added in all of his remaining ingredients with the carboys. I would like to know opinions on using them or tossing them out? These were all stored in his basement.

Four 3.3 lbs of unopened liquid extract. Two years old.

Ten 1.0 lb bags of crushed grain. 2 1/2 years old. The grain has been in sealed bags from the manufacturer.

Five 2.0 lb bags of dry extract. Two years old.

Thanks for any ideas and opinions.

- Toss the liquid extract.
- Use the DME to make starters.
- Taste the grain to see if it is bad/soft (and not dry-crunchy like it should be).

If you really want to experiment with the LME and not just throw it out... you can boil it with some hops for 30 minutes chill it, and pitch right on to your next yeast cake when you rack a beer out of the fermenter. For a couple bucks in hops and an hour of your time you might get something drinkable.
