I have a 3 piece theif that I was going to take a sample of my cider and it doesn't fit into the neck of the jug... uggg....

So, what have you used as a theif to take a sample?

I'm guessing I will need to get different theif now that I know mine won't fit but that's not going to help me right now tonight.

Give me some idea's.

do you have a small diameter tube/hose to use as a siphon? is gently pouring a sample a stupid idea?

I thought about using tubing and pouring, I didn't want to pour it and "mix it up" so to speak. I was about to do the tubing but it would have taken a while to fill a sample tube for the hydrometer. I suppose if I was using a refractometer I wouldn't have had this problem but I don't have one. Guess after 15 years of brewing I should.

The wife suggested the family dollar right down the street for a baster, which ended up working out well.
