    Techniques To Make Non-Alcoholic Beer

Considering taking a stab at this--have you had any more realizations the more you've been testing these methods? It seems remarkably simple...

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

After banging my head against the wall, I finally found this post and solved my issue. Thanks for going through and updating compatibility with PHP7. Good lookin' out.

Please help me improve my BIAB efficiency

Honestly, upping your base malt to hit your desired SG is also an option. Not sure why your efficiency might be so low but a super easy way to compensate is to plug that all in to BeerSmith and adjust your base malt based on your gravity. An extra pound or two of base malt is only a couple bucks...

    Auberins temperature control question

Could also be that the temp of the outside of the carboy is not equal to the liquid inside the carboy. I agree with TennBrewer too, the liquids likely didn't have enough time to fully come into equilibrium with each other.

    Recipe Help

Welcome back to the hobby! Looks like you add the Chinook and Amarillo at the same time and let it dry hop for 14 days.

First batch - Phil Keener’s Belgian Dubbel

I tried a Belgian Tripel and a Quad as my second and third batches. My biggest issue was that they didn't ferment out. I would strongly suggest making a yeast starter and investing in the erlenmeyer flask for that now. Belgians need to be well attenuated otherwise they'll be cloying. The...

Did I ruin my Dead Ringer IPA?

Yeah grains were probably steeped a tad high. Also, what was your FG? The sweetness up front could potentially mean it didn't ferment out all the way.

    Re-pitching yeast???

Just for future reference, shaking the heck out of the carboy does probably slightly risk an infection. And I mean very slightly. But without an oxygenation/aeration system, it's one of the only ways to get the necessary oxygen into your beer so the yeast can eat it up. I do it every time...

    Major foamage

+1 for the Northern Brewer calculator. Gives measurements for all sorts of different sugars you can add.

    Krausen to flocculation

Looks fine to me. Give it a couple days and maybe try tasting it to be sure, but looks ok.

    Re-pitching yeast???

I would take the airlock and bung off, shake the heck out of it and repitch some yeast. Could be that there wasn't enough oxygen in the wort when you pitched, and now the yeast have just been chilling in there waiting for some oxygen. This happened to me a couple months ago, took the bung...

    Re-pitching yeast???

What yeast are you using? Wyeast's website has the optimal temp range for each yeast.

    Fermentation taking a long time

I'm not sure how the orange peel could be moldy if you added it to the boil. That should've sterilized it. From the picture, everything looks fine, krausen looks healthy. Have you calibrated your hydrometer in 68 degree water to make sure you're getting an accurate reading?

    Need some quick fermenting advice

I'd say you could just do 17 days in primary, then dry hop for 4 days, then add the second dose of dry hops for another 4 days, then bottle. I think the 17 day secondary is unnecessary. Or you could just move to secondary after 17 days, and do the dry hopping schedule I mentioned all in...

My first brew...final thoughts & one question

As mentioned, taking a reading in 2-3 weeks would be fine just make sure everything worked out. I used to not take readings really, like leidermann mentioned, and I realized at a certain point that I no longer had a handle on how my equipment was working, recipe specs, etc. I agree readings...

What's the average grain absorption in BIAB brewing?

I generally lose around a gallon of water for about 13lbs of grain, so 0.08 is about right on for me. I think the formula I saw in BYO a couple issues back had it at .079, so somewhere in that region. 0.2 is definitely high IMHO.

    Cold crash

I'd say that's cold enough. I usually try and do 4-5 days when cold crashing but 2-3 would probably be good too. It'll clear up like a champ.

    Secondary Or Not?

You're not gonna get a definitive answer for this question. Either way is fine, kind of up to personal preference and experience. Is say try one way this time and another next time and see what works for ya.

Need a little help with the method

I've been doing BIAB in my 10 gallon kettle for a couple years now. If I'm doing any recipe under about 1.070 OG, I'm fine doing a 5 gallon batch in there, mashing and boiling. I think using two vessels complicates things. Part of the beauty of BIAB is being able to just mash in my full...

Northern Brewer Chipotle Porter Recipe AG

Sounds good even without the peppers added. Been meaning to experiment with peppers, I'll have to add this one to the list.
