    PicoBrew Zymatic

I have not noticed that my yield is less than expected. Although because I ferment in my brewing keg, I can only eyeball it, so I don't know for sure. Anyone else notice this issue?

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I just got a 1.080 OG out of the Z on a 3 gallon batch of "Slip 'O Sunshine" IPA. Now, this recipe calls for a big hit of cane sugar, but I was still happy to hit that number. And that's with 7lbs 12oz of grain, so could have gone higher. High efficiency mash schedule.

I use gelatin in my smaller batches, although I rarely brew less than 3 gallons on the Z and usually 3.5. I always use a 1/2 tsp of gelatin in a 1/4 of water, whether it's a 5 gallon batch or smaller. Works well.

I use .50 gap. Works great for me.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I've had my Zymatic for about a year and a half now. I've brewed over 60 batches and overall have loved it. It really makes consistently great wort. That is without question. As people have mentioned, customer support is incredible. A pump broke in mine after it was out of warranty. They...

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I routinely make 3 to 3.75 gallon batches. And you can make 5 gallon batches by diluting high gravity wort. I hardly ever make 2.5 gallon batches, although that's the right size for some folks. I thought that the batch size on the machine would be an issue for me, but it hasn't been. Brewing a...

No DMS. Or STD's for that matter.

Keeping the trub where it belongs!

I agree that a Hop spider would help this (very easy to build one of these). But why are you concerned with the trub in the fermenter? It will do no harm.

Using Corny Keg in Commercial Kegerator

You think a local brewery would rent me an empty keg?

Using Corny Keg in Commercial Kegerator

    I'll try this. Thanks.

Using Corny Keg in Commercial Kegerator

    This is pretty brilliant.

Using Corny Keg in Commercial Kegerator

Yeah, I had a feeling that might be the answer. Was hoping not to have to lay down that much cash. Anyone else have a better suggestion?

Using Corny Keg in Commercial Kegerator

I'm brewing a 5 gallon batch for a friend's wedding. I would like to put it in one of my ball lock corny kegs and then somehow hook it up to the Kegerator at the bar of the wedding site. I assume they will have Sankey couplers. What's the best way to do this? It seems easy to go from Sankey...

What breweries or beers to try while in California?

Here's a good summary of SF breweries. A number of these are brand new. http://sf.eater.com/maps/essential-san-francisco-breweries

What breweries or beers to try while in California?

Cellarmaker in SF. Fieldwork in Berkeley. Faction in Alameda. There are many more in the Bay Area, but those are my favorites.

    Canning Your Beer?

How much are we talking here?

First try at a SCOBY. How does it look?

It looks nasty, but that's nothing new.

    Earl Grey Issue

Yes, I prefer the flavor, as well. These folks haven't had issues with their scobys?
