Finished up my Stir Plate. Couple Questions

Can I boil my stir bar to sanitize it? Any way to make it quieter? I have it just spinning in water now. Maybe an actual starter will be different. Do I still let the starter settle out and pour off the worth then pitch? Or is better to just keep it stirring until I'm ready to pitch...

Do i need a potentiometer on my stir plate?

So I'm on my 2nd fan. Went from a 3in to a 4in. Thinking that was the problem that my "found" stir bar won't start spinning. Do I need an actual stir bar? I'm using a threaded post that u would find in an electrical box in the ceiling. Now I'm thinking my hard drive magnet isn't strong...

I brewed an all grain German kolsch with wlp036. Pitched the yeast at 60° but when I opened the vial it exploded and I lost quite a bit of yeast. Also my ferm chamber is an old fridge that only gets to 60° in the summer. But the past few days it has been cooler and now the fridge is down to...

    First all-grain was pretty easy...

Completed my first all-grain today, things went smoothly. It was much easier than I thought. My only concern was the amount of water for dough in then sparge. But I was right on the money.

I cant get my mash tun to not leak.

I've tried every configuration I can think of with the hose gaskets/rubber washers/rubber gaskets that I have and cant get it to stop dripping from the ball valve. Im thinking of wrapping the shank of the valve with plumbers tape. The leak isn't that bad but it should leak at all right?
