Manifold: 10gal Rubbermaid HD special (round) w/pics

Note: this is from an older post of mine but updated with dimensions… so I thought I’d share it as a new thread I brewed the other day and got a stuck sparge; after blowing into the silicon hose the end of the screen floated up to the top… this has been a headache from day one when trying to...

How much beer gas / Nitro do you go through?

I have a new set up for stouts: an 80cf nitrogen gas feed serving on 30psi w/a micromatic reg; I precarb on co2. I’m starting my second 5 gal keg and have already used up 500 psi (on 1st keg); I have an inline shut and no leaks (i.e., I can go three days w/out a drop in pressure). Is this normal?

    In-Line Check Valve Q

I would like to install this check valve in-line on my gas tubing. Problem is, one side is barbed and the other side is threaded. I know, this is supposed to go into a manifold / distributer or regulator. But this is what I have and I want it close to the gas disconnect. Does anyone know...

cleaning and lubing a new stout faucet

My ebay’d Guinness faucet w/handle and coupler came in the mail today. It didn’t come with any instructions as far as how to take it apart, cleaning it, and what should be lubed. A while back I got some perlicks 525ss faucets and it came with instructions. I think I got it apart for the...

    Playing w/the tank valve

I’ve got a leak somewhere in my keg (co2) system and haven’t had time to find it; instead I’ve just turned the tank valve on and off (see pic) after gassing up the kegs before pours. The tank is only 2 years old (still a baby) and I’ve had it filled about 5 times; so far no problems (w/the...

I burnt and melted my 3 piece ball valve w/pics

wtf is that!?! I did my very first AG 10 gallon batch a few days ago and this is what happened: I bought a Bayou Classic KAB4 to get my boil going fast… and it worked… it worked too well and caused a “stuck spigot” when trying to empty from the boil kettle to my carboys. That black stuff is...

    Burner: Bayou SP10, KAB4, or KAB6???

Help! I want to increase my AG production from 5 to 10 gal/batch and need to upgrade my burner. First, yes, lots of posts here about burners but none I could find that fits me as I’m using a kettle, not a keggle, and I want to make 10gal, not 5gal. I’m using a 20” diameter, 15 gal stock-pot...

    recipe lock in Beertools Pro???

Is there a way to “lock” a recipe in beertools pro? I searched the beertools pro forum with no luck. I create a recipe, brewed it, made adjustments to the recipe (efficiency, time, notes, etc.) and saved it in a folder that I created. I made a duplicate of that recipe and added it to...

    Brown Sugar in Cider

Early last December I made a 1 gallon batch of Cider using 2 cups brown sugar, Tree Top and nothing else (final abv = 7.1%). After 1 month it tasted good. Then I let a bottle sit in the fridge 4 months and tried it… it tasted heavily of molasses which wasn’t appealing to me. Towards the end...

    Fermenting with Beer Tools Pro?

Is there a fermentation schedule in Beer Tools Pro? I can’t seem to find a ferment schedule / log / calendar or anything for that matter. Searching their forum and HBT results in nada (which I can’t believe someone else hasn’t already asked this… I must be over-looking the obvious)! Any...

    Heat and Kegged Cider?

During summer here in Vegas, temps top off at an average 105-115* F; do to $ (and waste) we don’t run air during the day when no one is home. If I kegged a cider (5 gal corny), is there any problem aging these for 8 – 10 months (through summer) in 90+ degree temps after removing the air and...

    6 degrees for yeast!

First time poster, potential first time brewer (if package finally arrives). The winter months here in Las Vegas offer a limited time out of the year to brew (temp wise) and I’ve decided to try my hand at cider. I ordered some dry yeast from an online brew-store (2 weeks ago!!! Sorry Santa...
